I paid the geek squad to hook up my home network for $159 They told me before hand that this would include makeing my laptop be able to see my main computer and print on the net work. They came and where here for about 30mins hooked up my wireless network. and then told me they couldnt get my brand new laptop to see my network. and that they can come back for and extra $90 to fix the problem. Is this a scam to get more money. Or is my main computer junk and they really couldnt get it to work. Do you think I should get something back in return? Because they dint do the job they told me they were going to do in the store?

The other's are right. You shouldn't have to pay any more, and you were quoted a specific amount for a specific service. If you did not get what you paid for, a call to the store manager is in order.

In addition to this, I would contact the makers of the router you are using, as well as the cable or dsl tech support line for the service you are using for the internet. Between the two of them, they should be able to talk you through setting up a network.

In the mean time, this link should help...

Of course they ripped you off. I just hooked up road runner & a wireless network for a lady in my neighborhood . The job took me ONE hour (including setting the pc up out of the box.) I charge $45 an hour and make housecalls at the customer's convienience. If they have a problem, I fix it for free since I'm the specialist and that's why they hired me in the first place.
Talk to a manager and demand satisfaction.

They ripped you off. The geek squad doesn't do much at all. I took my desk top in to have the viruses removed, paid 200 and got it back with the viruses still there. They said the only other thing they could do was sell me another program for 150. Wont go there again.

Ouch that is what you call getting screwed without even getting kissed and it sucks.I brought my computer to a shop in seattle to get it fixed after the blue screen of death came on from many trojans and worms my ex sent to me' and these jerks wanted $800.00 dollars as they charged 200.00 bucks an hour and said it would maybe cost thee 800.00 or more for the reformatting and re doing the windows xp.I took it back threw it in the dump and bought a nice new computer for 200.00 dollars second hand.I now will save and get a new one come the first of the yrs and this will last till then as i only use it for reading news papers and a little homework from school.CAll the BBB they love to get info like this and i will tell my school mates to not use their services either..Good luck and sorry you got so messed over..Damn jerks.

Yeah, I would talk to the manager. But remember, don't go in with your guard up ready for a fight. Explain what you paid for and what you got. IF you sound reasonable they will be much more likely to help you, even if they are in the wrong no matter what.

well 159 is a fair amount for the job but, they shouldnt charge you more for the second part, it was part of the project to begin with. Have them finish it and dont give them a single penny more.

I understand that sometimes people run into problems, especially with computers, but if they quoted you $159 for a service then that's all you should have to pay.

I guess it all depends on the contract you had with them though.

if they couldn't do it while they were there, how can they do it when they come back? sounds like a scam- unless they need some specific hardware to make it work and the 90 bucks is to pay for that.

i think that sounds ridicuolous they shouldnt have to go and come back if they knew what was wrong they should have fixed it then. If they didnt fix anything then you shouldnt have paid them

Call and talk to a manager. They will USUALLY try to help. If not, continue to warn your friends and family to not use them.
