Hi, My girl friend has a 5 yr old 206. When she is manouvering at slow speed with full or nearly full wheel lock on, there is a low pitched creaking from the front suspension.

Any suggestions what this could be. Is it dangerous?

Sounds like possibly her shocks/struts. It's not so much dangerous as a nuisance with the sound.

It's not dangerous, it will go on forever like that. It's caused normally by bushes that are starting to wear. But they will never go properly as they are always supported and jammed in place by the weight of the car. It won't even fail the MOT like that.

In many circumstances you will end up with more problems after you try to have it fixed as drive shafts often get damaged while trying to replace them, which is a major job.

If its only doing it when full lock is on it could be the steering rack, otherwise could be a bush or any number of suspension parts.

could be several things causing the creak:could be caused by wheel bearings, shocks/struts, springs, and /or bushings in fron suspension. for a better diagnosis take to ase certified mechanic.

at a guess i'd say either your suspension coil has broke (quite common on peogeouts and citroens). or the damper has worn out. Take it to a garage and get it checked out
