I don't see Saddam's hanging as any significant turning point. At first, I feared that if USA executed him, it would trigger a rain of revenge and spark violence and turn him into a martyr. However, it seems he was tried and executed by an Iraqi court, by his own people, and with the support of a large number of his people.
Under these conditions, I don't think we can expect anything spectacular. Maybe some fanatical supporters acting up.
I don't see this as heralding an era of peace or anything. Saddam's hanging was an act of justice, just as the hanging of any murderer is, and nothing more. It's not a huge political statement, and it's not going to bring the world crashing down around us.

By Pandoras box are you referring to more violence? The only way it will create more violence is if those that want to commit violence have been holding back. I don't think anyone over there has been holding back.
Those that are fighting in hopes that the US will pull out and the Iraqi govt. will be forced to release Saddam now have lost that fight.

I am happy, Iraq hung him, I am glad he is gone. Pandora's box has nothing to do with it. Demoncrats does not know how to keep the peace, they have to have a brain first. They like to open a can of lying worms, then point the finger at other people.

I dont think that hanging Saddam will open up Pandoras box but it will cause a lot of contraversy in the middle east.

he got what he deserved for doing what he did to his own people. He killed hundreds of thousands while he kept his minority government in power. He was a Ba'ath Sunnis and they are fairly small in Iraq and it is the Sunnis who have been doing most of the insurgency. So Sunnis and terrorists are old friends. We have no idea what is going on over there, unless you ask some ordinary GI becaue the news media is so slanted one way or the other we have no information source. Most of the returning GIs I have talked to say its a good thing we are doing but we need to get out and not wait for Arabs to try to figure how to stop killing their own families.

I think some of the people who followed Saddam's so-called 'ways', will attempt to retaliate against America, even though we are not the ones who hung him.

Saddam was a merciless murderer and very cruel man. His hanging will surely bringing some closure and sense of justice to the mourning, devastated families of those he tortured and killed.

Why are you asking this lame question? Who uses the word,
"pandora's box"? You must be old school. Time to go check the batteries in your hearing aid.
