I was wondering why people in our world think of myths about things that are not true?
Example: Wolves are killer and will attack, killed people. Truth no wolves in USA ever been recorded killing a person especially healthy one.

Myth 2: Snakes are slimy and scary etc
facts: I petted snake they are not slimy, they are soft and smooth with out them we will be over populated with rodents.

Myths 3: Pitbull, Rottweiler, Doberman, Amercian Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier are aggressive and attack people.
Facts: All these breeds are not aggressive unless you trained them to be mean and atack people, I been around all of those breeds, they were friendly like any other dogs.

Myth: All black people are drug addicts, in gang etc.
Facts: Not all black people are in gangs and drug addicts. I met many black people they are all friendly and nice just like any other colors.

Your question should be "What is our thing with our Society of the Folklore?"

A myth (mythos) is a sacred story concerning the origins of the world or how the world and the creatures in it came to have their present form. The active beings in myths are generally gods and heroes. Myths often are said to take place before recorded history begins. In saying that a myth is a sacred narrative, what is meant is that a myth is believed to be true by people who attach religious or spiritual significance to it. Use of the term by scholars does not imply that the narrative is either true or false.

The Bible
The Iliad
Greek Hindu, Egyptian Creation Story

A legend (Latin, legenda, "things to be read") is a narrative of human actions that are perceived both by teller and listeners to take place within human history and to possess certain qualities that give the tale verisimilitude. Legend, for its active and passive participants, includes no happenings that are outside the realm of "possibility", defined by a highly flexible set of parameters, which may include miracles that are perceived as actually having happened, within the specific tradition of indoctrination where the legend arises, and within which it may be transformed over time, in order to keep it fresh and vital, and realistic.

Paul Bunyan
Johnny Appleseed
King Arthur

The concept of folklore developed as part of the 19th century ideology of romantic nationalism, leading to the reshaping of oral traditions to serve modern ideological goals; only in the 20th century did ethnographers begin to attempt to record folklore without overt political goals.

While folklore can contain religious or mythic elements, it equally concerns itself with the sometimes mundane traditions of everyday life. Folklore frequently ties the practical and the esoteric into one narrative package. It has often been conflated with mythology, and vice versa, because it has been assumed that any figurative story that does not pertain to the dominant beliefs of the time is not of the same status as those dominant beliefs. Thus, Roman religion is called "myth" by Christians. In that way, both myth and folklore have become catch-all terms for all figurative narratives which do not correspond with the dominant belief structure.

Everything you listed is folklore not myth.

I think the reason that people believe these things are due to the fact that they are closed minded and aren't willing to learn the truth. Most people think snakes are slimy because of the way they look, and some people are just afraid of snakes for whatever reason.
Most people think that about the dogs because they only see or hear the worst side of the breed..what was trained to be that way.
And the same with the drug addicts.
People just have a preconceived notion of all these things, or a prejudice really because of something that they may have previously seen, heard, or been told and they're just not willing to learn the real truth.

I don't know what your question has to do with mythology? Your point about dogs is only partially true, certain species have predisposition to certain acts e.g. herding dogs (Collies), retrieving dogs (labs) etc. The dogs you quoted were bred to attack staked bears, bulls and other similar dogs in pits for entertainment, so the innate aggressiveness and vastly powerfull jaw was bred into them.

Your comments about people of Afro descent is ostentatious and patronizing and you probaly do not even know why.

It is a myth that many americans are xenophobic but it appears to be true to some "aliens". Take a trip from your side of the street my dear, you may learn something.
There are none so blind as those who cannot see.

And the question is?

Many myths and old wives tales are held as true ("You're likely to get razors or drugs in halloween candy", "Reading in dim light will damage your eyes"....) and many people make wide generalizations about others due to their race, sex, etc...
