"... the Hurricanes who look like a box of Tide laundry box!"

Now that is funny! That made my day.

Thanks for the laugh!

The reason that you can't get a vintage Whalers jersey is because the city of Hartford owns the rights. They own the rights to the name, logo, and all things affiliated with the Whale. Meaning that the only ones who can make the jersey is them. I'm fairly sure that if you go into any hockey/sports store in Hartford though, that they will be for sale. I'm not exactly sure how this came about, because the NHL owns the rights to all the logo's now.

I always thought the Nordiques jersey's were so foreign to the rest of the league. Seemed too european. Now, I miss them. Can't say the same for the Whale. Don't understand the current love for those WHA sweaters. Hartford is right in the middle of Boston/New York fan loyalties. A return would last only a couple of years unless the new Whales were immediate contenders. The Coyotes should be moved to Quebec City...yesterday.

Never liked the Whalers to begin with. They always struck me as being a perpetually angry team with a chip on their shoulder. They were annoying and seemed to relish instigating problems and drama on the ice.

Memories of the old Adams Division...sigh....

Then they move to Raleigh, NC and become the Hurricanes. Now they're annoying with a collective Southern accent. Even worse, they win a freaking Cup.

My buddies, diehard Sabres fans all, refer to them as the Caro-whine-a Hurri-cra(p)s.

Sabres and Craps fans genuinely don't like one another...and I LOVE it!!!!

The whalers used to be in the WHL until '79... That might have something to do with it. They also no longer exist as the whalers, but still exist as the Hurricanes. That could be it as well, But In all honesty I don't' know.

Are you sure they're not under the vintage Jerseys for the Canes?

Edit: I checked, and a lot of teams don't have vintage jerseys. I get the impression that most teams don't sell them. You would have to look at a different site. Try googling it, see what you get. I found one on e-bay here
http://cgi.ebay.com/Hartford-Whalers-Vintage-CCM-Jersey-Sz-Med-New-W-Tags_W0QQitemZ120068338133QQcmdZViewItem

buy it now only....

I also found this, which has links to a couple of sites.

Below: I have to agree with the canes thing. I think we should redesign our jerseys, but I have no voice. At least we do something creative with the striping at the bottom... (the Hurricane warning flags) But I thing we should do a black shoulder or something.

But again, who listens to me?

Yeah! Whalers jersey was nice, lot better than the Hurricanes who look like a box of Tide laundry box!

Because the Hartford Whalers jersey is ugly. Colors too.

My brilliant boyfriend and I bleed hockey, and we recently had this conversation. You can find them, but you need to search like hell. Start googling!
