More than 50% of deafness at birth is unexplainable. Some people think it might be hereditary but that it not provable. More than 90% of deaf kids have hearing parents and its rare to find a line of family where there grand parents, parents and children are all or moslty deaf. Most deafness is not caused at birth but instead by very early childhood sickness nd ear infections and it is detected later. Hope this helped. Toodleloo!
