Well, if they lose the second term they can say they didn't have enough time to enact their policies. When it comes time to reap the disaster they have sown in our economy they will be the first to say "see the Democrats will raise your taxes" So they absolve themselves from the very misery they created with their misplaced tax cut in a time of war, and now that the bill is due they can very cleverly claim this tax increase was under a democratic congress and that's why you should vote Republican for the next election.
Very clever, right, I'm sure millions of people will fall for it too.

Some GOP operatives are spouting this and while it is technically correct that through the 20th century that in the 6th year of a presidency, his party tends to lose seats, many are overlooking the fact that the "neoconservatives" or "liberal republicans" that ran the House and Senate alienated the conservative base and chased moderate Republicans away to vote Democrat. What is amazing in reality is that they did not lose more seats than they did. This proves the power of the Reagan revolution to withstand even internal problems.

Historically, every mid-term election has gone to the party NOT in the White House. This phenomenon is compounded in the 6th year of a two-term president's time in office.

What are you doing listening to Rush to start with? Clinton lost the House and Senate to the Republicans. It did not or does not just happen to Republicans or George Bush!

you seem to think that there is some difference between Repubs and Dems. Is not. When the Dems are in Rush is Rosie, Danny Devito is Dan Quayle, Barbara Streisand is Ann Coulter. You sat too long in the theater, the movie changed but the ending is all the same.

Well, I dunno about Rush, but I do know that the Republicans lost the elections, the Democrats didn't win them. The Republicans acted like Democrats for the last 6 years, of course they lost support. Let me think vote for the genuine lefties or vote for lefties who deny who they are?
Is it a wonder that it was Conservative Democrats who were elected? Unfortunately we got San Francisco Pelosi as Speaker. Good luck to small business owners and those who are involved with any business whatsoever.

No one campaigns to lose. No one is "supposed" to lose. They say that first to take away the sting of the defeat and secondly so that people won't remember "why" by were defeated!!!
