Does playing a Sony Playstation 2 console on a HDTV through analog video inputs damage the HDTV?

I heard this from a friend but am not sure whether it's true or not

Not it does not damage the HDTV. Not sure why your friend thinks that.

No.

All it will do is not give you the best picture quality the PS2 is capable of. If it would damage the TV, the TV wouldn't put those inputs back there.

It might depend on the type of screen. I've heard that plasma screens are subject to "burn in" when playing games. I believe this is much less of a problem with LCD screens.
