1. Your dog could have FLEAS.
Most fleas look like brown colored spots moving. While it is true that their favorite meal is your DOG, they don't live where they eat. If your dog has FLEAS, then so do you. Fleas live in carpeting, upholstered furnituap, drafes, 2Cghans%t almosreanywhe t. Whenrehey're hungry they'll jump to the nearest animal. Sometimes that means YOU!

2. He also may have demodox mites.

What kind of food are you feeding him? Treats? Any fresh or raw food? Often these skin symptoms are related to improper diet and other deficiencies.

He has now probably developed a secondary skin infection from scratching and will need antibotics for that.

Are you using any pesticides on your lawn? Carpet shampoo?
Any new cleaning products, wool rugs, recently painted areas, etc.?

Bathe your dog with Dog all natural, herbal shampoo. This is VERY important, in order to speed up the healing process for more immediate relief.
If the dog has any lesions or sores on the skin, use the Skin-eze Oil O3 or Skin-eze Spray on those areas. This will prevent a recurrence of the scratching that caused the surface damage to the skin.

Try taking him to a different vet in the mean time your vet returns. If that is not possible, try going to the nearest store and treat him for scratching besides for fleas. Maybe he has a rash or something similar to fleas. Hope I helped out! Have a nice day!

The Dog may have an ongoing skin problem. It may be in-borne (enzemic), fleas, ticks, even an allergic reaction to something you put on him (even the flea solution). My dog has a bad reaction to the floor cleaner and she will scratch none stop and even have bloated ears. In-borne problems are pretty hard to solve and can only be lessened by medication and good care. Seek your vets advise though, its the best option.

Recently allergies have been very bad and at my work (vets) I've noticed a lot more dogs. Another thing it could be is ringworm. Just make sure you are washing your hands afterwards of petting him. If you tried over the counter flea control products they might not have even worked.

Sounds like an allergy or skin infection, maybe mange. Get him to the vet as soon as it is open. If you notice any scabs, discharge, blood etc call out the emergency vets though. You dont want your dog getting a serious infection or blood poisoning, so its best to be on the safe side

he may have a rash from the treatement. If you go to a pet store, they have pet shampoo that is for irritated/itchy skin for the dog. I dont remember what it is called, but it is a bright green shampoo. It worked for my poor poochie. Another thing you may want to try is to get one of those E-collars- they are the ones you can put around the dogs neck so they dont scratch themselves (it looks like a lampshade on a dog). This will help until you can get to the vet.

He could have something as small as dry skin or it could be a parasite. If he's a puppy and is scratching behind his ear, that's normal because there's some kind of little parasite that pups have that goes away when they mature.

Can you give him a bath and condition him? If you don't have conditioner, I would wait until I could get to the vet.

Sometimes dogs scratch themselves because their blood is too rich. We all like to think we give our dogs the best of food but ie dog food like pedigree chum, you know the most expensive stuff has so many additives. If you are feeding your dog tinned food change it to crappy "chappy", the dog won't like it to start with but persevere.I fed my dog on pedigree chum for along while until a vet told me Chappy was the cheapest and the best, it had less additives than any other and it worked, but god does it stink. Good luck

He may have a skin irritation or infection. Be sure to take him into your vet and try to stop him from scratching because he will only make it worse and tear the skin.
