I would have a sick a$$ beat, i think thats they key to every hip hop or rap song. Make sure ur PA is balanced and vocals dont overwhelm. And make sure your mix is good, and the bass pounds even at the back of the room.
Hand out free stuff on stage before the first song, cds, posters, shirts or even stickers, any merch u can afford to give away. Wu tang did this and it got the floor filled up.

Get a good beat so that the crowd can dance, wave, and rap at the same time. A good beat would do almost anything. It gets a lot of people attention...
