I purchased a guitar amplifier from a music supplier on eBay and there seems to be something wrong with it. The supplier offered to ship me a replacement amp but I think the problem is the amp model, not the particular amp I have. He keeps saying "I'll ship you the same amp" or "what kind of different amp would you like, we can sell one to you?" but I want to return the amp for a full refund. He never explicity stated his return policy and I know I should have checked before buying from him, but it is what it is and I just want to know what my options are (besides trashing his rep on eBay)? Thanks.

Carling, wrong...he did not offer to replace the faulty amp "with any other model" he wants to sell me a full price amp of a different type for more $$$. As far as hot water, I am not a frequent eBuy buyer/seller so what do I care if he gives me a bad rating...he is the guy making a living on eBay.

If you are still within the 60 (or 90?) days' period to leave feedback, you can ‘trash his rep on eBay’ and see his response. But, actually, you must see if your item was covered under the Purchase Protection Policy if you had paid through PayPal, in which case you are entitled to a partial or full refund. Otherwise, you may report eBay under the ‘Item not received as described’ option on the Dispute Console (left sidebar on My eBay). Both these procedures will require you to provide all relevant details of your transaction with the seller, including e-mail (quoting the full subject headers) or other forms of communication.

Legally he does not have to give you your money back because you did not get him to state his return policy before you purchased from him. I'd be grateful he's willing to work with you at all to replace the amp with another one at all since it seems he didn't state anything about exchanges either. It's unlikely that eBay will step in to help since technically, the seller has done nothing wrong.

If the amp is new, you may have some recourse with the manufacturer but likely they'd just replace the item too instead of refunding your money.

I don't recommend trashing the seller through feedback because he'll just do the same to you and you'll BOTH have a lower feedback rating for something that was your fault.

If the listing mentioned that the items could be faulty then no, the seller has covered their back by stating it in the listing as you have then bought them at your own risk, knowing them to be untested which is not against eBay rules so you can't claim for your money back.

now that is something you can not do Trash his reputation cause you have got the wrong thing that is your problem
he as stated that he will replace the item and to any model you wont so the problem is with you not the seller it's with you, be careful you could land in hot water if you try to trash hie reputation he could run you over a hot fire

just leave him bad feedback, if he was a decent seller and knew there was nothing wrong with it he would offer you a full refund with no prob!
