If you have a bench warrant you have several options:

1. Turn yourself in - this is the worst option to take. You may see the judge the next business day, provided that the court is not overloaded with custody cases. You WILL be charged with criminal contempt of court for every violation listed on the warrant. Therefore, one charge becomes two charges and four charges becomes eight etc. Furthermore, in order to be released you must post bail which is the amount specified on the warrant itself.

2. Post bail at court - by posting bail your case will be reinstated and you will be rescheduled. Normal course regarding scheduling of reinstated cases is usually two - three weeks; although, exceptions could be made upon request. If you post bail you will not be charged with contempt nor will you be placed in custody.

3. File a MOTION TO RECALL BENCH WARRANT/WAIVE POSTING OF BAIL - this motion can be filed by the defendant, or his/her attorney to get a hearing to explain to a judge why the defendant was not in court on the specified date. At the hearing the judge will decide to recall the warrant or not. This motion can be filed ex parte, meaning without a hearing, whereby the judge would only need to approve the motion for the warrant to be recalled and the case reinstated.

With on a daily basis that passes fines can boost, fines which you will at last pay. Why decide for to boost them. Odds are you have a warrant for a minor infraction. merely call the employer in contact Jan. 2 (why did you wait 'til a three-day weekend to ask?), and propose them you have been no longer able to look or somebody withheld the notification, et cetera. they might possibly schedule yet another listening to. Then MAKE THE listening to. you weren't judged a criminal till you desperate to no longer take place. Get it out of how now and spot in case you do no longer experience extra useful right here morning.

how long it will take before you're seen depends on where you are. some places (busier courts) you will have to wait in jail for a bit. if it's a smaller town, you probably won't have to wait as long. it also depends on who issued the bench warrant. where I live, if it's a district magistrate you might be able to be seen right away if you turn yourself in at their office. for a main judge, you would have to wait a bit to get a hearing date/time. but turning yourself in (as opposed to being picked up) always looks so much better and is more respected by any court.

If you turn yourself in by at least noon then you should be able to see a judge the next day depending on the city you live in of coures. Also if you turn yourself in it looks so much better for you than if you wait to get found.

It is impossible to answer accurately without knowing your jurisdiction, and what proceeding you failed to attend. In general, it is better to go to the court, rather than the police station, if possible. It is best to go with your lawyer, if you can afford one, or ask to have one appointed as soon as you can. With a failure to appear in addition to whatever other offense has been charged, I would recommend against your continuing to represent yourself.

If you have a Bench Warrant you should you can turn yourself into any police department. If you're driving and you are stopped you will be taken to jail on the spot.
