The end of the world has been coming since earth came into being. Everything exists to someday not exist......everything.
And as far as space exploration for understanding our surroundings vs war weapons, consider this:
We have have explored space to the point we are demoting planets, ie. Pluto. What if we continue exploring space and discover evil aliens that we will need weapons to protect ourselves from them?

Yes. Why isn't more money being spent on the cure for Cancer? This disease is not as preventable as AIDS and takes more lives, especially those of the young. Why can't we make a cure for paralysis so that people would not have to go forever without walking or being able to move independently, on their own freedom? Why must we develop the most asinine things in favor of the best medical discoveries?

The day will come when this earth will be burned to a crisp and a new heaven and earth will come into existence. It could happen now or 1000 years from now or 100000000 years from now but it will happen. The book of Revelation in the King James Bible will give you all the details of it. I believe it and have absolute peace that this will not effect me and I know that I will be with my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ one day. I know many will not like this and don't believe this, that's ok, I have absolute peace do you?
