1) Don't use the word funner in your essay that you will give to the principal!
As a former teacher, I can tell you that field trips are beneficial because classrooms are not representative of real life. Students need hands on experiences outside of the classroom. Field trips provide that for students. Field trips are especially helpful for inner city students and rural students whose parents might not otherwise be able to take their children to some of the places they might attend when going on a class trip.
I hope your principal concedes! Let us know, okay?

field trips are learning experiences that cannot be duplicated on a school campus.
field trips provide concrete learning experiences that lead to greater understanding and knowledge of content areas
field trips provide opportunities for teachers to integrate curriculum and that means that a field trip can be used for reading, writing, math, science, social studies, art and music...ie: read about building houses then learn about perimeter and area then discover the different types of houses used in different parts of the world then why they use certain types of materials then a field trip to historic homes and modern home and have an architect as a guest speaker to share how he uses literacy and math in his career then write about the entire experience.

Because fieldtrips allow for something different to be experienced instead of sitting in a classroom all of the time. Some kids are hands-on learners and need to be involved in things.
