Yes. He is human is he not? He was drunk and said some stupid things. The sad thing is that people like Gibson (actors and the like) are not allowed privacy anymore. Why can't we just enjoy his creative works without dipping into his private life? He was drunk, was arrested, and he said some stupid things. If you were drunk and arrested would you want the world to know exactly word for word what went down. But you would never do that would you because you are a saint. Right.

You mean for the anti-Semitic remarks he made while drunk?
Yes. He has apologized. He has said that he does not agree with what he said when he was drunk. He has asked for forgiveness, and he has offered to make amends. It is right to forgive him.
Maybe this will help. Gibson learned bigotry, but as an adult he has overcome these ideas. But his early indoctrination could explain why such offensive words came to the surface when he was drunk. It does not reflect his current point of view.

Racism is not acceptable, doesn't matter if you are rich and famous or not. A racist pig is still a racist pig. I will never watch another Mel Gibson film again because I don't support racism.

anyone who is truly repentent should be forgiven. otherwise, i'd say that's a personal choice for each person, but it is said that forgiveness is a virtue in general.
