“Deep” I think can mean many different things to different people. Many people will say intelligence, or self-reflection. Both those things can lead one to be deep, however, I think a deep person is someone who develops themselves holistically; Someone who truly attempts to understand the very essence of life, through their mind, emotions, and actions. Deepness does depend on how you present yourself to others (people pretend to be deep; in reality they are as shallow as a cookie sheet). Who you are, and who you are becoming dictates whether or not you are deep.

Well, look at it's contrast. What is shallow? being on the surface, only seeing skin deep. Thus, the answer is clear, to be "Deep" one must see the innermost faculties of that which is being speculated upon to it's greatest meaning.

gosh, it's kind of hard to "become" deep; you are or you aren't; i guess one way to try to become deep is to become more informed about different topics, either current events, or history, or art, or any other subjects that maybe interest you but you don't know much about. and read a lot. fiction, nonfiction, magazines, whatever. the more you know, the more you can form opinions and express what you know. exposure to different things is always good. also travel. see different places, different cultures, etc.

Many ways. Life experience is one; getting out and exposing yourself to different cultures, different philosophies instead of living in a hamster wheel and limiting your exposure to life, literature, etc.

And reading makes a person's mind broader, if not "deeper."

I interpret "deep" as the ability to understand and/or appreciate other points of view; not being totally locked into one political, cultural, artistic, or religious philosophy.

Sit in a quiet comfortable place,
try to calm down all the emotions you had for a day,
count your breathing one through ten repeatedly,
as you count, breath slower and softer.
Review your day or your thinking or emotions as if you are watching TV (that means, as if it is someone else's life) but without any judgment... forgive yourself if you made any mistakes... cry if you want...
When you spend enough time and want to 'wake up' hug yourself and really, really give a lot of love to yourself.

Question everything. When you find an answer, consider it, then question that answer. Repeat as necessary.

Read. Live life. READ. LIVE life. Question everything you read, question all that you experience.

Peace

(Don't forget to live love and laugh... being too 'deep' can be really depressing).

engage in those practices which make easily accessible to you the deeper reaches of consciousness and you will reap the rewards. living an entire waking life in ordinary beta/ego consciousness is a total waste ;-) (btw beta relates to the brain frequency levels--beta, alpha, theta, delta---good research topic). those practices?: meditation, energy work: chi gong, reiki, yoga; plenty of exercise, etc. also, check out the book: *the complete idiot's guide to toltec wisdom*--worth it's weight in gold, and the site http://www.sahajayoga.com and, re one of *your* answers: healing. see http://www.olegabrielsen.com it's all real, and an amazing gift from mr. g. best of luck!!
