I guess that depends on what you mean by "violent countries". Kind of a strange term. Like you believe there are countries in the world where every citizen goes out and kills people or something. (Yeah, I imagine Ann Coulter probably says there really are such countries.)

Anyway... you should say what you mean by violent country. For example, the top 5 countries by number of executions are China, Iran, Vietnam, USA, and Saudi Arabia.

The top 5 countries by number of nuclear weapons are the US, Russia, Britain, France, and China.

The top 10 countries by number of murders per capita are Colombia, South Africa, Jamaica, Venezuela, Russia, Mexico, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus.

The top 10 countries by number of active military troops are China, USA, India, North Korea, Russia, South Korea, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, Vietnam.

Romulus is right, you have to define "violent".

The political convention here is to exclude all countries that are on good terms with us. You don't even include those in the discussion.

So, we don't talk about violence with respect to Indonesia, Turkey, Colombia, Chile, Israel, Saudi Arabia, or any other country that is drinking our Kool-Aid.

Especially, we don't talk about ourselves. But, most of the world views us as a very violent country, by just about any means you choose to measure it.

It might just be that they are correct.
