Absolute gorillas. Even the Feds had to step carefully. Ness early on lost one guy but the jury is still out on that. Plus, he was something of an idiot. It wasn't so much the hoods. It's how much corruption generally became acceptable at the highest levels. You've even got idiots pining away for the ' good old days ' even if they weren't even born then! That influence is still very much with us today. It's a clever if convenient dodge for all levels of government when it's manifest what incompetent dolts they really are. Don't buy into this guff from the Feds they've really got organized crime down. You don't get rid of a working partner.

There were the real gangsters. They weren't drug dealing, drive by doin, petty thieves like the people calling themselves gangsters today. These guys were tough and rich and everything they did was to make money and they made a lot of it. They were smooth and sexy and grown men not little boys with nothing better to do after school.
