Capital punishment is abolished in all civilized nations.

In America the only nations that still utilize this barbarian form of punishment are the United States, Guatemala, Cuba and Guyana.

In response to leeloo's

"what if a criminal killed your only child in a very aggressive way. Wouldn’t you want to kill him? This is why law is here to provide justice."

That is revenge not justice.

Justice is a concept involving the fair, moral, and impartial treatment of all persons, especially in law. It is often seen as the continued effort to do what is "right." In most of all cases what one regards as "right" is determined by consulting the majority, employing logic, or referring to divine authority, in the case of religion. If a person lives under a certain set law in a certain country, justice is considered making the person follow the law and be punished if not.

I think it's a great idea in theory and if extensive research and possible DNA testing has been done to reach a verdict of guilty. Sometimes though, innocent people are put to death before the truth can come out. However, I am in favor of capital punishement - especially for child molesters and first-degree murderers, as well as serial murderers, spree murderers, law enforcement murderers, and capital crime murders.

For the vast majority of cases, I don't think this should be an option. No money is saved by killing these convicts, any savings you get by not feeding them for fifty years are negated by the significantly increased expense of capital trials and the automatic appeals process after conviction. Being forced to live in prison for the rest of your natural life, which I personally think would be terribly boring, is a much greater punishment.

I would agree with the use of capital punishment for cases where the accused did something absolutely perverse, sick, or evil.

Well, if the judicial system in the U.S. could manage to find a just and well documented definition of first degree murder I would support capital punishment for that and a limited number of other HIGHLY defined crimes.

Just think about how many people who have been given life sentances have later been found to be innocent. Capitol punishment has nothing to do with justice, and everything to do with revenge.

To all the people that say Capital Punishment is Murder, tell that to all the families of murder victims who were killed by these convicted murderers.

I do have self assurance in capital punishment, for particular. Take a existence, lose your existence. this is awesome. Why have a guy sit in penitentiary and waste money on him once you may merely kill and get it overwith. i imagine it would want to help the households plenty. I wish they'd carry it to Canada.

Most people are against it as long as it doesn't concern them, but I want to ask them, what if a criminal killed your only child in a very aggressive way. Wouldn’t you want to kill him? This is why law is here to provide justice.
For 1st case murder, I’m support capital punishment.

Completely against it. I think 70 years of boredom is much more painful. But only if books, paper, pen, and music are not allowed in the prisoner's cell.

Newspaper is ok, but that's it. And for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the same thing: rice, spam, salad, and corn bread, alternating spam with tuna or chicken (unseasoned)
