The operative word is EX.. He sounds like a mental case. Let it go and move on!!! You don't need a weirdo in your life

I've seen it in men and women. I saw it in me a number of years ago. Men often retreat to their caves where they feel secure and have time to themselves. Yes, they become distant. I feel it is a time when they are beginning to have feelings. It's new, frightening, life affirming, but like fire, it can burn you. This is very real and very necessary. How long will they stay in their cave. As long as it takes. I was once in mine for about 4 years and then didn't go back until about 7+ years later.

When men feel themselves getting close it scares the hell out of them and they try to pull away. How you react will determine where it goes from here. if he is scared and you push it, you may push him away. if you leave him alone and let him have his "space", he may come back.....

Of course, there are those guys to whom "space" means "sleeping around", but thats another issue...

i think panic attacks and anxiety attacks usually come hand in hand with depression. he probably needs counseling and has some unresolved issues that maybe he isn't comfortable talking to you about.
