Well marina del rey has some great spots, my favorite is shang hei red. Its romantic, a bit pricey, I dont have the phone number.

Aqua Restaurant and Lounge its a underwater-themed restaurant-bar-club and draws the beverly hills crowd. 424 beverly drive 310-275-8511

if you do not mind traveling to fullerton. then there is a really nice romantic restaurant called the cellar. it is in downtown fullerton. if you want a great eating atmosphere with music and great food try Chomp in fullerton also. It is a teppan style restaurant with a sushi bar. you can not go wrong. there are over 50 restaurants and bars within a walking distance of eachother in downtown fullerton.

C_Bar nailed it! I was about to suggest both of those places. I would prefer Sycamore Inn as Magic Lamp tends to gave a much older (60s) clientelle.

take him to stevens steakhouse might be a bit of a drive for you but its worth it... its in the city of commerce
