Someone once told me that "in order to hate someone or something, you have to love it, at least a little."
I believe that.
To me, hatred is an extreme, much the same as love is. They are polar opposites, but both are conceived of deep passions, and in order to hate something, in order for something to affect you that deeply, there must be a degree of love involved.
I think that there's a great deal of difference between 'hatred' and 'bigotry', and that while 'hate' is often assigned to 'bigotry', it's not really true. It's more so an ignorance or distaste, and not nearly as powerful as 'hatred', though 'bigotry' can easily be taken to the degree of 'hatred' if there is a deeper motivation.

Not necessary.
When it does - I hate my ex-boyfriend because he cheated on me, but I only hate him because I love him so much & it hurts me
When it doesn't - I hate my ex-landlord because she's a *****, she try to screw me over for my deposit, trust me, I hate her, I just want to go up to her & beat the hell out of her & I never did like a her one bit so no, there's no love in it at all...

I have always believed that the opposite of love isn't hate-it's indifference.
When you "hate" someone, you are saying that you have strong feelings toward them.
