Does your state recognize common law marriages? If so go to an attorney to have documents drawn up to present to the insurance company.

Benjamin, if she is good enough to introduce as your common law wife, then why not marry her and make it legal. She needs benefits such as insurance, sharing in a home, filing income tax together, etc.

Does the state of Kansas recognized common law marriage? If so i don't see why they wouldn't if not just go to the JOP and get married.

As a beneficiary, anyone may be such. But if you wish to add her as a dependent, that can be another matter. Check with a reputable attny.
