You have to get a marriage license in the county you are going to get married in. You need to call the county in Tennessee where you are going to get married and ask how long before the ceremony you have to get the license (I know here, you have to wait 2 days) This is why so many people go to Las Vegas and get married on a quickie vacation, there is no waiting period. It's kind of a "cooling off" period, so people don't just run out and get married without thinking "wow, this may be stupid".

Also ask how long the license is good for (here, I think it's 3 months). You have to get married within a certain time frame of obtaining the license in most places. Make sure you don't go get it too early.

You should go to the county courthouse of the county you will be married in to get your marriage license. Call them as soon as you can to find out what the requirements are for a marriage license. I know when we got married, we had to have a blood test to complete the licensing process. We didn't know about that and we had to scramble around trying to find a doctor's office to draw the blood on short notice. Once you know what the requirements are, plan ahead accordingly. Congratulations and best wishes!!

Wow...That's a mouthful. You will need to get a marriage license in the state that you will be married, which looks like TN.

Which ever state you are getting married in. The navy will help you out with this as well. Call or go to the Fleet and Family Support Center at your local military base or you can go online and find one.
