There is a course of tablets available on prescription called 'Zyban' they are amazing! They work by eliminating the craving, so you just don't crave or even like the cigarettes and they get to work very quickly, usually within a week to 10 days. The best thing is that you can smoke whilst quitting, sounds absolutely crazy but try them and see, I was very sceptical but cannot believe the results. Three of us at my workplace have quit using them and have been off the ciggies for 6, 8 and 11 months respectively with no desire to smoke now. The course lasts 8-10 weeks, taking one a day. Best of luck!

This is hard!!!!! But, I did it 3 years ago cold turkey. Now I know they say this doesn't work but, I truelly believe it's all in your approach. I chose a multiday (and night) service project in which I could not smoke. One I got warm fuzzies for the work I was doing helping others and the positive vibes helped to keep my mood elivated. Two, quiting is hardest for the first 3 days, I was totally submerged into an activity that completely distracted me. Yes I had urges but there was no way for me to get away to catch a smoke break so this really helped!!!! Good luck and many Blessings to you.

What methods have you used to try and quit? Cold turkey, nicotene replacement? Visit this website for information on why you smoke (people are hooked for different reasons), how to quit, and to get support/ideas from others who have or are quitting.

By the way, I'm giving you this info, but as of yet I have been unsuccessful as well. Using the website I did manage to quit for a month.

Oh, its horrible isnt it?
Well you could try the method i used,

for the first month i never had a cigarette before 12 and after 7,
for the next TWO months, i never had a cigarette bfore 2 and after 5.
for the next month i limited myself two two cigarrettes in between the times 3 and 4

after that completely stop, i had tried so many methods before this and this one was the easiest and helped me a lot =D

good luck

When I quit, I was so mad that this "habit" had such control over me! I felt terrible and got out of breath so often that I was limited in what I could do.
The patch helped me (and my detemination).
I had smoked two packs a day for over twenty years.
And that was 14 years ago and now I feel wonderful!!!!
And, if I can do it; anybody can do it!
Good luck to you!

Open an ISA and put the money every month you spend on cigarettes into the ISA. Watch your fund grow and relish your improved health. Plan to buy something special with what you save. I bought a Ford Focus after 4 years!

A lot of people i work with went for hypnotherapy. Of the people who quit for good it seemed they really did want to give up, the others just went because they thought it would be a miraculous cure...all i can say is no matter what you try to help you give up, Will Power is the best fight you have without it nothing will work

I tried with no success, then a consultant told told me if you don't stop smoking, ! you will lose your legs, that was back in 1997, I have not smoked since the moment the consultant said that to me, strangely neither have I craved for a cigarette since then, I'm now richer and healthier, and still have my legs!
