I'm a 19 year old female, about 5'3". I really want to be a model for a magazine or something. Any tips or advice? Do you know of any agencies that I can contact in the upstate NY area?

nicely... you may't commence modelling ASAP. you should practice first for like 10 weeks and then commence, there you'll have each little thing you want to understand. Modelling is not merely the sweetness, this is the brains too because, maximum agencies care about if you're smart or not. once you commence employing for an organization you may't commence straight away, you should do a photoshoot first and then your organization will deliver those images out to consumers. And it would want to take quite awhile. For a 15 year previous, 5'6" is quite short. yet no concerns, you're fortunate, maximum short fashions are a minimum of a 5'6" and up.

Call a modeling agency. Not all agencies are willing to talk to someone who is starting out but keep looking.

Find a PROFESSIONAL photographer to take your head shots, which are the self-promotional photos that models and actors use. Head shots cost quite a handful, but they are as important an investment for an aspiring model as a website is for a website designer.

Also, read as much as you can about the business. There are hundreds of books out ther written by current and former models and their advice is priceless. You will learn what to expect, who to contact, what to look out for, what to go after and what to avoid. Go see your local library and ask for help finding books on modeling.

Good luck!

Honey, if you are looking for a way to be famous, in a sexy and delightful way, then all you have to do is be very still and extremely patient. There is only "one" pathway which will lead you to your stardom. Do not worry about the world around your precious and infinite soul. You see, in the game of life and death, we humans are all actors with strange humor and lustful apetites for any attention what so ever. We strive to becon the Father of [HEAVEN] to make us into something more glorious than what we are already. So, with that being said, seek the secrets of heaven first or face the inevitable hell. It's all up to you and only you, because the time will come when the world will fade and die a very cruel and painful death, but your soul will be freed from the frozen grip of the evil "one". However, you must chose wisely.

First off you need to be very realistic as to what your goals can be in the industry.

There are models of all ages, up to 60+.The two main modeling categories are Editorial/Fashion (i.e. runway and fashion magazine models) and Commercial. Editorial/Fashion has very strict requirements for height and weight.

Obviously your biggest road block IS your height, so you will be very limited as to what you will be hired for. You obviously will not do feature, haute couture or runway.

Commercial is a very broad category with requirements that are not as strict, there are all sorts of commercial models.

You don't have to be beautiful, but you do need to have a look that makes you unique and marketable.

But get on it. NEVER PAY A SERVICE. If an agent wants you he'll pay you. email me if you need more info.

I'm deeply involved in the industry.

First of all, what you should do is get an agent. An Agent will be the best tool that you can have in starting a modeling career. They will advise you on how to get photographs taken, starting a portfolio, and they also have the inside scoop on who is looking for a model and what they're looking for.

You should call a modeling college thing near you and ask them all your questions. You should dress fashionable but honestly the best paying modeling is the modeling that involves no cloths.
