To expand on what someone said about not being able to exchange files with friends...
If you are going to an art school, and using Photoshop, you will have NO problem swapping PS files with friends.
And as long as you both have the same software on the Mac and the PC, youll have no problem as well.
There are some programs for PCs only (Like Microsoft Publisher, but its a waste of $$ and time to use it) that they dont make a Mac version of.

ANY computer can get viruses. Most viruses are designed to attack PC's not Mac's so you'd be slightly better off that way. The MacBook Pro's have had a number of they're own problems hardware wise so beware. Other wise a Mac is a great investment.

There are a number of macOS viruses out there now. Not anywhere near as many as Windows, but they do exist.
The Pros are: Few viruses, good performance, some people think they are attractive looking.
The Cons are: Limited software choices (there is a ton more software made for PC than mac), Significantly more expensive than a PC with similar performance, Uncommon - many of your files will not work in your friends computers since they most likely all have PC's.

its not the computer's hardware that gets the virus, its the software. Technically any computer can get one. Ones running the MAC operating software are FAAARRR less likely to get one.
So, it doesn't mater if its dual core or not as far as being infected goes. The dual core will only give you speed.
