It seems like it would be real fun to do everyday, but is there really a nasty, dark side to doing nails? That maybe the public wouldn't think about?

I don't know what it would be like however I go fatithfully to have a pedicure and a manicure and I love it. The place I go is excellent and I tip the girls very well when they are done. Once you have your clients I am sure you will do very very well.
It is a tedious job and I am imagining a lot of work to learn it. Good Luck!!

I am in cosmetology school right now. And if I would have known what bull$hit it is, I would have taken just facials/nails. But thinking I needed fullcourse, im stuck at the school for almost 2yrs. The management is a joke, the rules constantly change, the girls are white trash and kiss asses. If you think you saw drama when you were in high school, then you havent seen true drama yet. All the girls do is lie, cheat, steal, and gossip. If you DO want to go to cosmetology school, when you go there, stop and ask several girls wether or not they would go to the school again, and make sure you do this out of sight of any managers, directors, admissions people, as the students will get in trouble for telling you the truth.

Well, If you're going to Nail or Beauty school, you should aim to work at a high end salon. I mean be the BEST at it. You'll have loads of GREAT faithful clients who will recommend you to their friends.
Take Marketing classes too to learn to sell yourself.

its alot of hours but its worth it. especially if your good and you find a busy shop to work at. im banking it right know where i work, i make 500 dollars a day and only rent my booth for 100 a wk.

It's hell. Truly, it is. You will leave a vastly different person than you were before you enter. You will hate life, and everyone around you.
But, you'll be able to give a great manicure!
