i went to the obygn yesterday and they said that when she checked me that she could feel the head and that my cervix was soft but she said my cervix hasnt opend yet my question is am i gonna go into preterm labor i am only 31 weeks and i have been having contractons that landed me in the hospital last week but when they checked me at the hospital they didint say anything about the being able to feel the head of the baby or that my cervix was soft and please note that i am barley 31 weeks along and that this was the same doctor who checked me last time who checked me yesterday so again my question is does this sound like i am gonna go into labor before i am 40 weeks along what is going on in my body please help i know this is a stupid question

no questoin is a stupid question. i wouldn't worry until the doc tells you to, but being a mother and preggo again, i kknow that you will anyway. So just try to relax and knkow that what is meant to be will be, and worry won't change it. Good luck

That is a serious problem, but honestly all u can do is pray, i will pray very night for you. And this is not a stupid question i have 5 kids, and on was premature by a few weeks...now hes playing soccer and hanging with kids, as long as your baby comes out alive, pray that he does not get sick, you will be in my prayers, and if you are not christian and do not pray... I will still pray for you and make sure that you baby will be a healthy child and become a sucessful, and hopefuly.
Things that are going in you body, it might just be stress...lay down have some tea and if you smoke, STOP! That also might be the cause if that is so. 40 weeks is very short...but i hope and pray that you child will be heathy. Remeber, NO stress

I would be concerned. Sounds like there is a possibility that you may go into labor early. I would talk to the doctor again and find out what's going on. Be prepared. I delivered my daughter at 32 weeks. Although she was preterm, she's fine and healthy. Good Luck!! Take care!

hi-this isnt a stupid question - but definately dont stress yourself out worrying about it--I have a friend who has been 2 cm dialated since Thanksgiving night.--she is still waiting.
even if you are dialated and having contractions--it can still very well be 40 weeks before you go into labor
If your doctor thought you were about to go--they would have sent you to the hospital, or at least told you that you could be early having the baby.
my doctors and nurses told me to lay down on my left side for an hour and drink 2 glasses of water--if the contractions dont go away then-give the office a call.
you could be having contractions because you are dehydrated.

It's not a stupid question, but you're asking the wrong people. If you aren't comfortable with your doctor, go to someone else. Having a baby is emotional anyway. You need to be completely comfortable with who you are having deliver your baby. But I would say, call the doctor you are using now, tell him/her your concerns. If you don't feel comfortable with the answers, go find someone else.
