I am also a stay home mom right now. I am 25 w/ 2 kids. I have a daughter who will be 5 in April & starting school soon & I have a 6 month old son. I have been a stay home mom since I had my daughter. I will probably be a stay home mom until my son is in school too. my Husband works as an Electrican M-F, 8 hrs a day. what I do all day is clean, workout when I can & take care of my kids. I'm on the computer too when my son is sleeping. sometimes I do wish I had a job w/ pay so then I can help my husband out w/ the bills & stuff. I have been tryin to find something online but, am not sure where to start & how to know what jobs are frauds & what jobs are true.

I am currently a stay at home mom. I enjoy it, I'm only 25, I have two beautiful boy's. The oldest is in school half day's and the youngest takes a nap for an hour during that time, so I get things done around the house, or I try to relax. I also want to go back to work soon, but I'm looking forward to working part time, and school part time, as I never actually finished school, I feel that I'm still young and can accomplish my goals one day. My sister in law is also a stay at home mom, she has 4 boys under the age of 5! can you imagine?? LOL But she seems happy, and I don't think she plans to go back to work any time soon either. Enjoy your time with your kids, they grow up to fast.

I have been a stay at home mom for 13 years. All three of my children are in school now, and I will be getting a job soon. Of course I will be my husband's secretary, so I won't have the same scheduling problems other women face. Once the kids are in school you should take some college courses. Expand your education and build a greater earning potential. One day you will have to go back into the real world. With the cost of college tuition, braces, vacations and vehicles for the kids, an extra income will be necessary.

Few families can afford "stay at home moms".

The fictional 50's never existed. The one-job-dad with the wife that met her 2 grown teenage boys at the front door with snacks is a myth.

My fiance is basically a stay at home mom right now. She takes full time classes (at home) takes care of her son.
She has not been able to find a part time job to complement her sons class schedule (his school gets out early every Wednesday, it's a mess) and has been living off of small gifts from her god-father.

She hardly ever goes out without me. None of her friends live close by, or drive, or can afford to come visit (its not even that far but it costs money to take the bus and train).

I have an OK job, and I am devoted to her -- but I cannot afford to support all three of us.

Rent, Internet, phone, food, power, heat. We hardly go out and I eat ramen and beans when I am not with them.
We hardly bought anything for anyone for Christmas and I re-gifted everything that I got to them as presents. We still barely made it through the season.

How can anyone afford to raise children in this environment?

I hope you are not the only stay at home mom. Our children need you. More moms need to stay home and give our children a better chance at life.

When you get them both in school, try to find a part time job. However, you will become extra tired like all moms that work. When that happens the whole family suffers.

My daughter has chosen to be a stay at home mom. Her husband works hard to provide well for the family. They are expecting their sixth child in March. They also have custody of my son-in-law's adult special needs brother and have two foster children. She has plenty of work to do during the day and prefers that to working outside the home and putting the children in day care. At some point later on she may decide to get back into the workforce but for now her work is at home.

no, I'm a stay at home mom, even though my daughter (the youngest ) is in school now. you might say--well how do you get that? well, its all very simple. I want to be here to put her on the bus each morning, i tend to the house ( laundry dishes sweeping mopping cleaning,etc..) while she's gone, so she has a clean nice home to come home to everyday and I like to be here when she gets off the bus.(i have to drive 1/2 mile to the bus stop so she doesn't have to walk home) and i have dinner ready when she gets home, because she's always hungry by 4pm. i help her with her homework,( i help my two teenagers too if they need help with something but they are usually pretty independent.) And because I have a husband with bipolar and a mom with health problems, staying home makes sense for me right now.

You should be happy that you can be a stay at home Mom! Many working Mom's would love to trade places with you, if they could, and still have food on the table!

I know how you feel, but your kids need you more than anything right now. Too many kids are raised in daycares. Be there for them, that's the best job you can possibly do, anyway. You are plenty young enough for a career when they get a bit older!
