its almost as if trying to distinguish the Irish from the English here in the US. How was the Nazi government able to decide who was jewish so they could enforce Jews to wear/post the star of David on shops and clothing? thanks.

Well, for starters the Jews were fairly self segregating bunch, much as the Asians and blacks and Indians and countless other ethnic groups here in the U.S. are. Then you have the religious affiliations, synagogue, clubs , beards, haircuts, circumcision and so on. Then you have the financial and political groups and institutions that were unique to the Jewish populations in Europe. Finally you have the German governments fanatical records keeping as the final nail in the coffin

You can't tell? When someone is Jewish, most of the time it is visually apparent. Plus they lived in communities, and people ratted them out, including each other.

the above answers are true but it was also like the other way around.If you looked anything like a Jew,you had to proof you were not or you were screwed.
