I work for a couple of judges and I don't see them act disrespectfully very often, but I can't speak for all judges. Usually, if they get "disrespectful" it is in response to a defendant or party that is acting like a complete idiot. That said, most complete idiots don't realize (or care) that they are acting like a complete idiot.

When you become a Judge and deal with the issues that keep you stressed there can be no more Mr. Nice Judge and he becomes a hard butt.

The last Judge that made a remark that was racist had to resign from the seat after he was charged abnd being sued.

Even Judges, have to watch their mouth in court.

I have noticed that many judges do get a God complex. Maybe it is because they have so much power over people's lives. However, many of them can be voted out at election time. It is usually at the bottom of the ballot, and says "Should this judge be retained?" A no vote would be good to help end this God complex we see.
