hmmm...Put some fabric softener sheets around...like in your couch cushions, in your dresser, etc. Also, if you don't like all candles, what about something like a cotton or linen scent? And you can get an electric candle warmer so you don't have to light them and you can hide them easier than a lit candle so nobody has to see your cute petite candle burning :) and if still no, Put some cedar chips in closets, or better yet, clean everyday! :)

I have a one Bedroom and I have three Glade Plug ins they are a little expesive at first but the refills are like 2 bucks.
I use the Fresh Linen smell not too girly. One in the Living room One in the bathroom area and then a different smelling one for my bedroom. They last a little over one month and they really make a good difference.
Also keeping your kitchen clean helps, water soaked dishes and trash can smell up the place to. Good luck man, peace
You can get all this at Target. Just pay attention when you buy refills so that you don't buy the wrong kind.

There are some candles that aren't too sweet. You could burn a few of them. Also, especially in winter the air just gets stale. I had to open up my windows for a few hours one day. Pick a nice day and turn the furnace cooler like 10 degrees so you don't run up a huge bill but still stay comfortable. Also, Use some fabreeze. Spray it on all fabric materials. Furnature, curtains, carpet. Running the vacuum cleaner with some carpet deodorizer might help too. Just a few suggestions.

well just keeping it clean for one will help you dont like air fresheners and candles what a bout just getting some deoderized carpet cleaner you sprinkle it on your carpet before you vacume then it vacumes right up. taking the trash out regularly and doing dishes every day will help alot all on its own. i have 2 kids cant use deoderizers and air fresheners alot because i think alot of them smell kind of strong, but just keeping the house clean and open windows some to let fresh air in instead of letting the dry still air linger will help. and if you really want you can get the renuzit air stuff they smell good but not to strong and lol not girly either just clean smelling stuff oh and a big pile of dirty clothes in the corner will not help your apartments smell any. but thats usually mens things they hate to do lol the trash dishes and laundry. but those are the 3 things that make a home smell the worst, oh and a cheating way to clean use those clorox mop and dry things if you have hard floors. not sure what its called but i have one its got the spray stuff you spray and mop all on one tool thing and it leaves floors nice and clean and has a nice clean smell to it but dont use to much other wise it smells like strong clorox.

Small bowls of vinegar help. Just change them daily. Also, sprinkle your carpet or rugs with baking soda 15 minutes before you vacuum. Live plants keep your air fresh, too. And you might try not leaving dirty dishes in the sink, clean the toilet and shower once a week and change your sheets once a week. Don't leave dirty laundry around for more than a week. Sounds like you need a maid, huh?

Be careful of plug ins. They have started fires.
In addition to keeping everything sparkling clean use Odo Ban [ sold at wal-mart] to clean with as well as pledge multi purpose [ in the blue bottle ].It smells nice and subtle and does wonders on electronics.
Odo ban is also a great fabric refresher.
Empty that garbage and spray every time you change the bag,

I like the smell of bleach and some other cleaners. Clean out your sink/counter with a cleaner and crack a window. Instant fresh.
Also there are metal rings that you can place over a light bulb. In the ring you can pour/spray on some of your own colongne.

There are "odor eaters" for dorm rooms that might work for you - they are usually sold in the collegy section of stores like Linens 'N Things or Bed Bath & Beyond. You could buy one of those & tuck it under a chair or tables...
I make sure that I always clean out the refrigerator & garbage regurally.
If you don't do your laundry very frequently, get a tight fitting hamper to keep your clothes in!
Also make sure the air circulates in your apartment; throw open a window for awhile, use a fan, etc.

Open the windows, wash laundry often and keep it clean. Maybe try a reed diffuser for scent, they come in lots of scents and some are more on the male side of the spectrum, spicy and good. After you cook wash dishes right away and wipe down all the surfaces to get rid of cooking smells.

Well, for starters you should mop the floors with a disinfectant like Pine Sol. Scrub the kitchen and bathroom with something like Lysol. Vacuum really good and don't forget to dust. Make sure all the linen is clean too. And also make sure you don't have any old food, dirty clothes, etc... lying around. One last thing, Febreeze. Works like a charm.
