It's generally done for reglious reasons. So if you don't have one. Don't get it cut.

I have 3 boys and all of them were circumcised right after they were born. My decision to circumcise was not religious. Most male babies born in the US are circumcised. I chose circumcision because: #1-their father is
#2- health and cleanliness reasons.
I don't know why they told you it had to be done after he was 6 months old or why a Urologist has to perform this procedure. My OB/GYN did the procedure on my 3 boys.
But the choice is yours...many men aren't circumcised and are living a healthy normal life.

if you practice good hygiene with him and teach him to do the same when he is old enough to take care of himself, there is No Good Reason to mutilate your baby! If God had not wanted men to have foreskins, He would not have designed us with them.
Time for this barbaric custom to disappear back whence it came. The doctors will still do alright without the coupla hundred bucks for five minutes work.
Leave him in the natural state he was born in. He will thank you later.

I'm from the UK where circumsision (sp?) isn't done as a routine thing. Here in the US it seems it is. At the end of the day, I think you should talk to your pediatrician and decide what is best for your son.

i say get him circumsized. it will be a lot healthier for him in the long run. uncircumsized penises are a lot harder to keep clean than a circumsized one. also, once he is of an age to have sex, he might wish that he were circumsized because women find a circumsized penis much more appealing, and much healthier for the woman also. by that time, it will be much harder for him to get it done, will be much more painful.
I had a boyfriend that was uncircumsized once, and although he really tried to keep it clean, he constantly gave me yeast infections.
i say snip snip

it makes for better hygiene (easier to clean or something, i don't know). and i heard it lowers the risk of AIDS, but i don't believe that crap.
they did it to my son in the hospital like a week after he was born (it would have been the day after but he got transferred to another one so they did it then) and they say they cry when they pee but i don't know how bad it hurt him because i wasn't there.

If you choose not to cut him, make sure you educate him on proper hygiene practices. Besides peoples religious believes, DR. do this for hygiene issues.

I hear it keeps diseases down.
Talk to your doctor and discuss the pros and cons.
I dont think that it is a mandatory procedure or one that will adversely affect him if it is not done.

I'll be honest and tell you that I am cut. So of course I am biased towards cutting...
But what is the boy's father? They should match, so that he won't feel different than daddy.
