My boyfriend asked me to marry him and of course I said yes, I love him. But we are only 19 years old and want to wait 3 years for marriage. Is that too long?

It depends on how long you have known him. You are still young and you have many important decisions to make about your dreams, aspirations, career, etc., so your feelings may change for him drastically in the next few years. Same goes for him. I think waiting is a good choice (rather than rushing into it and regretting it with a year or two).

That seems to be the time most people divorce and you want a 3 yr. fiance. Do you both have good jobs? Can you afford a place to live? A car to drive? If you can, why not get married? Does he want you to put him through college? Or vice versa?

If you two are having sex, you will probably never get married. Most people having sex get a divorce before marriage. They are just afraid of paper.

I'm being sarcastic for a reason. Whatever happened to Holy Matrimony? A girl saving herself for marriage and 19 is prime marrying age. It seems like when the Lord blesses the marriage people live together a lifetime. Are you both Christian? Christians are not suppose to link themselves with an unbeliever.
Do you want children? How many? Have all these questions been asked? If they have, get married.

No not at all. Finish college and get goods jobs. Marriage takes a lot of work and the two of you will be better of by waiting and maturing more. If you truly love each other, the 3 years will go by quickly

While it IS a long time for an engagement...he is very smart to want to wait! 19 is VERY young for marriage these days and many of those marriages just fizzle out because you change SO much from age 20-25. I think its a very smart decision on his part!

I advise any couple to be together AT LEAST 5 years before getting hitched. My fiance and I have been engaged almost 6 years. We are tying the knot this year, and I'm glad we waited because we've been through ups and downs! I would experience life first before getting married. You don't have to be married to be with someone. Enjoy each other first and really get to know each other.

Nope to each their own, I had friends that got engaged right away and didn't end up getting married until 4 years later. Wait and grow up together you will be happy you waited a bit and you will have more success in your marriage as well. Have fun!

That would be 3 yr engagement, not anniversary. I think waiting, at your age, is a good idea. I married at 19, it was too young.

Good luck!

19? Good hell. You must live in Utah. You're too young for everything. You need to experience life first. I would give the ring back and tell boy toy, "maybe in ten years". Do this before you get pregnant and he leaves you. I've seen this happen a lot and it isn't pretty!

If you can postpone the marriage for 10 more years your are still with in reason.
Get married when you turn 30.
