As much as I hate giving Republican's advice, Chenney couldn't win--he's not very photogenic, he comes of very brusque, and his health condition would make him questionable in many people's eyes.
If you want to keep the legacy going, just have Jeb Bush run.

A person cannot be vice-president if they have already held the title of president. So unfortunately this wouldn't work.
