Mysore is a beautiful city with nice mellow people.
Also working in Infosys, you will definately find people like you. Americans, Brits working in India.
Cities like Mysore and bangalore(140kms from Mysore) have now started catering to expats like yourself.
Don't miss the Palaces in Mysore. there is a lot of rich history and are worth seeing. There is so much history and so many things to do in and around Mysore that all your weekends would be well taken care of.
Shopping is another that you can do extensively there. Do buy the sandalwood gifts, sandalwood oil, powder they all have different uses and purposes.
The city is surrounded by rosewood and sandalwood forests. Another famous thing is the silk. scarfs, saris, shirts, home linen, name it and you will find the variety.( beware of fake stuff)
The weather is really nice, no extremes.
All in all its a beautiful place and people are friendly.
Check for it on lonely planet.
have a nice stay!

mysore is a nice plesent place, it reminds most people of the old bangalore in the 70's and 80's, It has good roads, hospitals, friendly people, lots of greenary. ..... if you have to find a fault the only fault you may find is that the shops shut early. Infosys campus in itself is like a resort...... you are lucky to have got into infosys as a trainee.
