Actually did come from India?

Because I've seen that we hispanics and the Hindu Indians do share a lot of the facial features.

Culturally we are different, but in appearance we sort of do resemble each other.
I mean Christopher Columbus did started calling them Indians for a reason.

No.

However, modern Europeans probably have origins in India, based on linguistic and DNA evidence, and likely came from India *far* more recently than the ancestors of Native Americans crossed the Bering land bridge from northern Siberia.

Hispanic Americans are a very heterogeneous mixed group. While skin tones may be similar to tones of certain people from India, the facial characteristics are often closer to those of Europeans or East Asians.

Columbus called them Indians because he was *expecting* to find the East Indies (Spice Islands).

Actually, if you believe spiritually...if you think about it, when Noah's ark flooded the earths, he only had his children to replenish the earth and start families. Those families lead to other families and created other families.
A lot of cultures, that of like Brazil, was started from both sides such as France and the Spaniards. More people look more dark than others, but it depends on which north or south you come from.
Acutally, some of Hindu Indians did come across the seas to other countries in Mexico, etc. They had no idea where they were landing, because we didn't have a correct theory of how the world actually was. So, therefore, it could just be that your ansestors are of Hindu Origin?

Well I usually refer to them as Native American because they are not Indian. Indian refers to someone who is from India. I was told that this is the correct term to call them. I also agree about the Black American. I am American a Black American of African ancestry. So Black American would be more fitting.

In traveling West C.C. thought he would find a quicker way to Asian/India and hence a cheaper way to trade goods rather than travel overland. He didn't realize there was an entire continent in the way. We all stem from our original parents so we all resemble each other as humans. Interbreeding within our area highlights certain characteristics (like blond hair in Sweden). National Geographic is doing a research project tracking migration. It's very interesting. I was able to send in my DNA and they isolated the gene that showed where my ancestors came from. They didn't have my name or anything about me, I was a number, and yet they determined I had Germanic ancestry which I know to be true. It may still be available to you.

The use of the term Indian by Christopher Columbus was a mis-nomer--he thought he was in the east Indies. All that's known about American Indians is they came across the Bering strait about 12000 years ago. But there's no way to prove that the actual origin is India.

In responce to poster #4, all humans eventually can trace back to Africa.

Christorpher Columbus is an ignominious. But Native American's actually came from Asia. They traveled accross frozen water that seperates Alaska and Asia, (the water is not all frozen any more.) So actually Native Americans are Asians.

American indians and Hindu Indians are completely different and facial features are not the same.

I agree, a few of the posters need to chill. It's only a question. Don't like it don't post to it. Easy stuff.

No. I think Native Americans came from North East Asia...like China, Japan, and what not. If they came up from India is WAY before they came to the America's. Columbus was a racist mass murderering moron and when he landed in The Bahamas he wiped out the entire race of Arawaks, Lucayans, and Carib Indians...BASTARD!!!!!
