Does it happen with one particular DVD or with any? If it happens with all DVDs try getting a cleaner disc for the laser lens. Run the cleaning cycle and retry your DVD. If it happens with only one DVD, try cleaning that DVD. It might be dirty or damaged.

check ttat you have compatable disc for sony dvd your instruction manual will tell you what discs your machine can play other wise it may be disc fault error c17 or disc dirty both meen same thing or a cheap disc might not work
