Listening to music is definitely an option. Try to choose instrumental songs without familiar words. Especially Bach or Mozart....most classical music will assist and not distract you. It will also aid with relaxation. Good Luck! Happy and safe new year to you as well!

Well, it's best to listen to songs with no words when you are trying to concentrate on something, otherwise you will be more concentrated on the words in the song, rather than your work. I try listening to relaxing classical music on Yahoo! LAUNCHcast radio. You could also look for CDs at Borders that include Bach, Mozart and maybe even Tchaikovsky! They sell Mozart for Relaxation, and Bach for Relaxation, because the least thing you want to be is stressed out when you are doing homework!

You can listen to any music that does not distract you. If you find you are listening more to the music than concentrating on your math homework, I would suggest you switch music genres. Classical music is always an option. Of course, there are people who simply can not have any music playing while focusing on a task.

I could probably help with the math, but...
Neil Young, The Eagles, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Poco, et al.
My brother-in-law can only study to Beethoven.
One's daughter just finished finals and 'owes it all' to The White Stripes... Sigh...
Find your own level and DANCE

Whenever I do homework, and I cannot focus, my number one preferred choice is classical music. ;) Composers that you may consider are Beethoven, Chopin, Mozart, Vivaldi, ect. I use the radio on classical archives (internet radio).

songs that don't make you unhappy or too happy are not suitable while studying; I mean you should avoid listening to techno or heavy rock or rap whose words may catch your attention.. you can try songs like in the SOS 90's in MTV. I call them soft songs. don't disturb you, no ryhtmic mess.

slow music. maybe stuff like the fray.
try and stay away from music you know the lyrics to.
because then you will get too caught up singing it instead of doing your work.
