If you act nicely and continue to be treated badly it is because you allow it to happen. I would say that the need is new friends and people you surround yourself with. I wouldn't hang out with a drug addict, robber, or rapist, so why on earth would I hang out with people who treat me badly? This includes family, if they are not a part of the solution than they are the problem, and in the end drama is not worth loosing yourself.

Ni, I am who I am. I will not lower myself to a losers level. I will work and be true to me and get what I want. If I have the right attitude I will have everything I need. The force is strong in me.
Treat people the way you want to be treated. If they are jerks and treat you poorly that's their problem.

i believe a limitless number of narcissist sociopaths use your "justification" for behaving disgustingly. you already know the "right" answer. a person always gets what is deserved. btw, if a person always assumes he will suffer and be victimized, he "magnetizes" appropriate behaviors from others to himself to fulfill his assumptions, eh? being an a**h*le is easy, and very popular in a culture where "success" is measured by materialistic standards. why not be an exception to the norm?

Nice guys need a t-shirt that sez, Wipe Feet Here. To be nice is to be a doormat. I believe in common courtesy, but save your niceness for people who have earned it.
Just my experience.

No. You can be nice without being a doormat. You need to learn the difference and then be nice, but demand respect in return.

I would continue acting nicely, yet I would bend the rules of the game ever so slightly.

Don't stop being nice... but you can't let yourself be bullied either. Stand up for yourself once (firmly) to these people and that will usually take care of it.

absolutely not! people who treat other people badly have their own problem/s. acting nice reflects on your own feelings. it would be to your advantage not to base your happiness on other peoples actions.
