well one of the problems is that they get seperated for the summer, another problem is that lena doesnt want to be with kostos, bailey has leukimia, bridget did it with one of the coaches,she misses her mom (committed suicide),carmens dad is going to marry a perfect preppy blond person with barbie doll children, and tibby is left alone all summer and then bailey dies..ok i hope this helps you on your book report...good luck!

The conflict is growing up. There are actually 4 stories going on in the sisterhood. Each has their own conflict and resolution of sorts...and the four girls support each other through the process of growing up. It is a great book and I recommend you read the other two as well. good luck with your report.

The conflict is that the girls are on the cusp of adulthood but are torn between being children and being adults.
Tibby- wants to think like a child in thinking Bailey will live because she's only a kid and kids don't die. It is an adult realisation for her to realise that life is fragile and all she can do is support Bailey the best she can.
Lena- is torn between blindly going along with her grandparents' pointless fued, like a child would, or defying them for her new boyfriend.
Carmen- is conflicted with the idea that her father is perfect and she should be the centre of his world and the adult realisation that he's only human and is flawed.
Bridget- is caught between wanting more from guys like an adult would and being too young to handle it.
