The money from house sale has been with the bank who are acting as executors since the middle of november and has been passed elsewhere for auditing. When are my cousin and I likely to receive our share of the estate?

Allowing for Christmas and New Year delays, I'd assume you would get the money by the end of this month. The bank are the executors and have the responsibility to ensure that all debts on the estate are paid, and that all income is in. It depends on what state the deceased's affairs were in .... were all their papers in good order and easy to find what bank accounts they had, or did you pass them a carrier bag full of papers that they had to sort through? I'm sure you'd prefer that everything is done properly and the bank has to present you with a written report of all the money they have recovered and what has been spent.
If I were you, I would contact the bank and ask what progress has been made and ask them directly - but if everything was in order and the house sale money has come in, then you shouldn't be waiting too long. Oh, and remember to ask for the interest on the money they have been holding !! They are legally entitled to pass this on to you!!!! Don't forget that.
Good luck,

Banks are the biggest rip offs out. they will charge for every penny possible and it may take a long time before you get what is left.Banks are not interested in you or your family just what money they can make. This happened to a friend of mine who eventually got very little out of what would of been a small fortune.
