Today is my very first ultrasound. Please tell me on what I should expect? I'm nervous and very excited at the same time! I'm 23 weeks and 2 days with my 1st baby! Will the technician discuss it with me or my Dr? I hope we can see if it's a boy or girl!

The radiology department was booked and that's why my 1st ultrasound is until now. I also think the mid-wife lagged on ordering it. I am seeing a Dr. now.

All went well! By the way the gel was warm! The 30 oz of water that I had to hold in was the bad part! LOL By the way the tech is 90% sure it's a girl!!!!

wow 23 weeks and you're only on your 1st ultrasound?? Well you will see your baby on the screen, and the tech will let you hear the heart beat. You will probably see the baby move and you should be able to determine the sex. Usually by 18week they can see the sex ... so by now it should be clear as day. I suggest drinking apple juice before the sonogram to make the baby more active so you can get a good look. You will be truly amazed at the little person that's comfortably resting inside of you. Congratulations! The tech will talk to you but will also give the pics and results to the doctor who will further discuss anything that needs to be addressed.

At 23 weeks the ultrasound tech will first look at the baby and measure his/her head and limbs. Then they will check for abnormalities (cleft, deformities). The tech should be able to tell the sex of the baby at this stage. I had an ultrasound yesterday at 14 weeks (they could not tell the sex yet). They should even give you a picture or two. You will be able to see the little mouth, the ears, and even fingers and toes. Best of luck to you!!

The tech will go through all the anantomy of the baby and if you want to know the sex, you should definitely be able to find out now. It's actually really neat to see everything. They should also give you some print outs that you can keep forever. Good luck! What an exciting time!

The most unpleasant thing about an ultrasound is the cold jelly they put on your tummy. Everything else is wonderful! They'll point out the heart, the body parts, etc. Most techs will discuss what they see, others will not say much because they can be held liable for everything they say. Good luck with your precious little one.

first they are going to do their thing they are sposed to do like check for any problems like 2 heads lol. they will check the heart and other things. After they get done with the main purpose why u are there, then the fun begins. u see ur baby and possibly the sex. u will get some pics of the baby to save and show others. it is really neat. i have a profile shot of my son in my belly and it is so kool how his profile still looks the exact same almost 5 years later. my daughters must have had a shadow or something cause her profile shot looked like charlie brown but she looks nothing like that. i was so freeked my daughter was going to have a BIG nose lol . she dont. have fun, i know u will. it is the koolest thing. God Bless
