Basically when people expect you to be a certain way or behave a certain way, how can you get rid of the expectations people put on you if your happy the way you are?

Well, I can see this going two different ways. If you continuously have people expecting you to live up to the SAME standards, then you might want to actually consider what they are saying. Know what I mean? If you have the same problem with all people, the problem may not be them, it may be you.

On the other hand if they are expecting you to be married and have kids by 20 because they still think we're in the 19th century (or something similar), f*ck 'em!

You cannot control other people - only yourself. You cannot "get rid of" whatever it is they believe or do -- what you can do is make the conscious decision to stop taking things personally and ignore the venom others spew at you. If you truly are happy the way you are, this shouldn't be a problem.

By being honest to myself and just being what I am. Not easy; I know but at some point we do come to the point where other people's expectations of us don't matter any more. I am working on that lesson right now.

People will have their opinions of you and of what you should be. The best way is to ingnore it and be yourself. Live life for you and up to your standards noone elses. :O)

Just don't do what they expect. Eventually they will understand how you really are.
