I heard they make your skin glow and make you have more energy, but that came from a woman trying to get pregnant. Could the vitamins hurt me in anyway? I know that sounds crazy asking if vitamins could hurt me but I'm not sure.

Absolutely ! Also another thing about prenatal vitamins, the biggest mistake a lot of woman make is that they stop taking them once they have their baby. That's when you need them as much or even more. It helps with postpartum depression & to balance your hormones out among just a few things.

The "skin glowing" effect comes from vitamin E, which is in all general multivitamins. The "energy" comes from the cocktail of vitamin B, among others. Prenatals are generally for women expecting because they have particularly high concentrations of Folic acid and the like, which are for developing fetuses. If you aren't pregnant or trying to get pregnant, your body simply won't use those. You will urinate them out.

My recommendation would be to switch over to a multivitamin, which could give you some things that aren't included in Prenatals to protect the baby but are harmless to adults.

The long and short of it is that no, it won't hurt you, but the claims being made about skin glowing and energy are based on general vitamins, not just Prenatals.

of course you are fine. They won't hurt you. Vitamins are vitamins. Unless for some strange reason you are allergic to them. :) Prenatal vitamins are full of all sorts of good stuff. It's a good mixture of vitamins that are typically for those that are pregnant or breastfeeding. But not limited to. The reason they say for pregnant or nursing is because these are typically the vitamins or minerals that they are in the most need of. :) So.. go ahead and take them as directed on the bottle or by your physician. Its always good to talk to your Dr before you start or stop any type of constant medicine.. :) If they were bad for you, you couldn't take them if you "felt pregnant". :) So... no worries!

They're VITAMINS!!! There's nothing wrong with taking them. I'm a man and have used prenatal vitamins to stimulate hair growth. The only thing special about them is the way they're formulated. They are designed to fit dietary needs of a gestational woman, but there aren't any health risks in taking them.
