See 1st link for eBay Hot Items. Click a category on the left of the page, such as consumer electronics.
By the law of supply and demand, things that are in high demand and low supply, such as 'difficult to get hold of' concert tickets.
As well as 'hot items' listings, look online for 'most popular search words on google' for items people are looking for the most.
Google Trends can show how demand is rising and falling over time.

The best selling items on eBay are the "hot" items. Any of the items that eBay shows as most popular, those are the ones that sell best.
To be honest, I personally think that electronics sell the best on there. Also, event tickets are really hot as well. If you go to www.ebay.com, the homepage usually shows the top 10 selling items.

Anything weird, like a grilled cheese of Mary, or a stain on the wall of Elvis. The real money is in shipping and handling, since most people who buy on eBay are willing to pay a ton for shipping. like 20 dollars shipping for a 25 cent baseball card. lol

Check your local book store for more information on selling on eBay. Many titles exist on this subject.
