When I first boot my computer in the morning and open interet explorer it fails. I have sent the report in when the trouble shoot window opens. But have not been able to get any answers or fixes for it.

You should check for programs you don't want/need in add or remove programs in the control panel. Remove any toolbars or anything blatantly obvious ("security plugin 2006, bargain buddy, command, media access, popcorn, pretty much anything that isn't given a brand name you don't recognize.)

Also you should open internet options in the control panel or in tools up on the top of IE.

Click the security tab and set all zones to default level.

Click the advanced tab and then click "restore defaults" or "restore advance settings" depending on the version.

Go through the list of boxes and uncheck Enable Install on demand (internet explorer, and other. Both of them. And this is only in IE6.) and uncheck enable third party browser extentions (this is in all versions. It will turn off both toolbars and hijack programs.)

At the very bottom of the list, make sure SSL (both) and TLS are all checked.

This also helps speed up computers.

Normal fix is to reinstall Your specific or a newer version.
If that does not help.

There are programs that let You deinstall IE
http://www.litepc.com/ieradicator.html
Others offer the same.

After that You can re-install IE.

Alternatively there are standalone IE versions
(less integrated into system gives better security). Info e.g. at:

http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/2006/04/test-internet-explorer-7-without.html

This is for IE 7 but other versions are easy to find via search engine.

You can check whether You have unwanted/unstable browser helper objects (extensions) that crash Your IE

http://www.definitivesolutions.com/bhodemon.htm

Now - let me add a little ranting :-)

Alternatively You can get a more stable browser.
There are options that start fast and integrate well into Windows
such as K-Meleon or Opera. Others that have many usefull extensions such as SeaMonkey and Firefox. You can have shells
that improve but are based on IE's Trident engine, such as Maxton or Cayman .... browser/shell.

IE has simply not been developed for several years.
IE 7 did not catch up to be state of the art.
IE5.5 - IE7 are resource hogs - excuse the drastic term.
It is possible that Your IE just clashes with another resource hungry program.

Maybe have a look into auto-start. www.sysinternals.com free process utilities "autoruns"

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/processesandthreadsutilities.mspx

If checked with the program called autoruns:

There should not be anything much in the section called "logon" that is not Your firewall, Your viral software or by Microsoft.

In "old installs" You find a lot: The list can begin with an unused chat program & can end with a Trojan or other malware.
Any program autostarting increases the time-span till YOU can use YOUR PC and also diminishes general system performance.
