Not only should your son be able to get welfare, but he should also be able to get on disability. If his IQ is truly 25, your son is mentally handicapped. Go to your county offices, and they will help you figure out what aid is appropriate for your son.

They will also provide part-time work programs for him that will be at his level and things he will feel capable doing. Often, when dealing with the mentally handicapped, they are not so much lazy as afraid of rejection and looking stupid, as they have been rejected and mistreated often.

If your son's IQ is in fact 125 AND he is an adult, kick is sorry butt out and let him collect his own welfare. It is no longer your duty to let him mooch off you.

Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater lady...

May I ask you... Do you feel at all responsable for his condition? Laziness is usually a learned reaction even with someone with a low IQ.

Social Services can help him. You actually sound rather cruel... Maybe you should put him into a group home and have people that actually care for him, as he is, take care of him? But then you wouldn't get the money for his care... would you?

Did you ever imagine that his "Laziness" may have some other root considering his IQ is only 25. Sheesh...

I know I may be out of line considering I do not know the circumstances... but you sound rather cold.

I know a woman who kept a tight reign on her handicapped son just to be able to control his money from dissability and social security... He was horribly mistreated and although tempted... I never called the authorities on her because it simply was not my place to do so...

I hope that you don't come across anyone less willing to see things from all sides that is looking to report you, and have him taken away although considering, maybe that wouldn't be such a bad thing? .

What's his IQ have to do with laziness? If he's physically capable, he should be working. He could work at a place that hires disabled mentally retarded people and thereby enhance his life and self-worth. Welfare isn't necessarily for people like that.

Well, if that's your only solution then, you should try to get him on Social Security disability. I would start with going through MHMRA (Mental Health and Mental Retardation Assoc.) to get some sort of diagnosis for his condition and a "need" for welfare or government help.
Also, in my state we have "homes" or living facilities for people with those sorts of conditions.
Do you know if he is considered "mentally retarded" with that IQ score? I don't know, I was just wondering.
Best of luck to you!

The government won't, and shouldn't allow this. Welfare is for people who CAN'T work at all, not people to lazy to get up and work. Stupidity is not an excuse, there are plenty of moronic jobs out there. If you approach the government, they will most likely put your son in some sort of work program.

You should not allow him to not work. It's not good for you or your country to have a lazy son. Be a mother and kick his lazy *** out for work.

Why would you want to take care of him when he can work, he is just lazy? It does not take an einstein to work many jobs, just the want to and the physical capacity.
