the mechanic is most likeley right. there is a diverter door that switches air from the floor, defrost, panel. you problem most likley is the door is not opening to that side. some times it can be caused by a mouse that has gotten in there and brought material inside or the door is just not working properly. pull out the blower motor and reach down the duct. also it is relativly easy to find the linkage for the door that opens it. pull on it by hand and see if it is jammed or just simply needs lubrication. good luck

Sounds like your mechanic is right. That would be the only thought i'd have on it.

Your coolant levels would effect the production of heat all together, not just on one side of the car. That implies a vent door some where in the hosing between intake and car.

It might be worth it to check the thermostat... I cant imagine that being the issue... but with it only blowing heat (iam assuming you mean all together) when reving the engine... it might be and underlying unrelated issue.

It could also be your fan belt slipping... but again, that would result in no air, and in most cases no power steering.

Iam going to stick with the mechanic.

That will be the hoses. Have a mechanic check all the hoses for holes etc, you can also get him to modify the hoses so you can funnel some of the heat from the motor to go to the drivers side. Maybe you lost one of its arms and its is blowing out or is now simply absent.

The problem is probably in the door controlls. Most of those are controlled by vacuum and you probably have a line that either came off or is broken. check under the dash to se if you can find it.

Yikes. I had this happen to an old car, right before the engine seized. My thermostat was broken and I didn't know the engine was overheating on my short commute to school. I hope that's not what's causing your problem. Good luck!

If the heater blows cold air, why not use the air conditioner?
